The Philadelphia Flyers are the official NHL team of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They compete in the Atlantic division of the Eastern Conference. The team officially joined the league in 1967 as part of their expansion and was the first of the new teams to win the Stanley Cup when they won it in 1974. The Flyers then returned the next year to win the cup again, however despite their many returns to the finals the Flyers are yet to secure a third win.

The Flyers still have an all time winning percentage of 0.577 which makes them the second highest after the Montreal Canadians.

Their most heated rivalries have been with the New Jersey Devils who are also part of the Atlantic Division. The Devils are normally the Flyers main hurdle to winning the Atlantic Division title.

The home of the flyers is the Wachovia Center.
